Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a colorful mix of characters, and a gripping narrative including celestial beings, demons, and sinister influences expanding in influence within the urban setting.
Heads-up: Key plot points for the latest installment of the new season follow below.
The Soldiers Table Introduced
The third episode ended with a dramatic pause and presented the initial group of adventurers who will split off from the primary party to undertake their independent quest, separate from the remaining groups.
The Soldiers table includes the determined fighter (played by the voice actor), the agile character (Laura), Tyranny (the cast member), the cleric (the player), and Kattigan (the actor).
Why Split the Party?
With a large ensemble, it was clear from the start that keeping everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.
This explains, the initial installments of the new season serve as an Overture, intertwining the characters’ stories before dividing into three separate parties: Warriors, Strategists, and Explorers.
The Nature of the Warrior Group
As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who are drawn to a typically action-packed battle-oriented narrative style where peaceful solutions are scarce.
Initially, figures such as the squeamish cleric the cleric might seem mismatched, but the developments of the third episode demonstrate why these specific adventurers are best suited for the Soldiers table.
Motivations for Departure
For one thing, the party knows exactly where to go next after a brutal initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.
A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose passing initiated the narrative’s action—exploited the enemy for his personal gain, invading Thjazi’s hideout, attacking the rogue, and taking all the enchanted items to dispose of.
Casimir then cleared his debts and fled to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, above the urban center, with Cyd close behind.
Individual Reasons
Secondly, each adventurer has a specific drive to exit the urban setting:
- The rogue, as the close ally and best friend, wants vengeance.
- The knowledgeable figure is familiar with the northern area and cautions that it is a nasty place.
- The strong character and Wicander, having resisted his relatives’ demands to eliminate the fighter and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
- Yet, their status as key figures in House Halovar could assist the party access locations they normally couldn’t.
- Furthermore, The fighter vowed a unbreakable promise to The savior for his rescue and will now go with him anywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
Lastly, all of them are wanted by the rulers that rule the setting for a range of causes, making lingering locally no longer safe:
- The agile adventurer and The hero are known criminals.
- Tyranny and The cleric betrayed House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
- The fighter is wanted dead by House Halovar.
This leaves them little choice but to travel to the northern region in pursuit of the antagonist.
Future Episodes
Based on episode three’s Cooldown, we find out that the Soldiers table will be absent in the upcoming installment, leaving the other eight participants to form the Explorers and Schemers parties.
Viewers can look forward to finding out which adventurers will be where in the season’s final introductory chapter, released on next week.
